Today we’re fasting from the thought that says:
“I’m running out...”

This is a mindset that we WILL overcome today. The thought that you’re running out of time; running out of money; running out of patience, STRENGTH, chances, etc. This thinking has to go!

Today we’re fasting from the thought that says:
“I don’t think this pain will ever go away.”

We all feel pain, whether physical or emotional, and though it may seem at times it may never go away, IT CAN and WILL.

Today we’re fasting from the thought that says:
“I’m not sure God will meet my needs.”

Sometimes our needs are great. And even though on the surface, many of us trust God, there is this gnawing thought at times that God won’t come through or we can’t make ends meet.

Today we’re fasting from the thought that says:
“Why is God letting this happen to me.”

It can be so disheartening when you feel abandoned or feel God is not answering. This thought paralyzes us into inaction.

Today we’re fasting from thoughts of jealousy:
...such as “did they really deserve that more than me”; “why do other people get ahead”; “why don’t I have what they have”; “they’re just lucky”; “why can’t my kids be more like their’s”; etc.

Today we’re fasting from the thought that says:
“I’m inferior.”

Ever felt like that? Or inferiority’s offspring: “I don’t measure up”, “I feel small”, etc. It’s time to get rid of this thinking.

Today we’re fasting from the thought that says:
“God doesn’t care.”

Today we’re fasting from the thought that says:
“I don’t belong.”

Feelings of rejection and inferiority can be crippling and they come from this mindset. Other thoughts, such as, ‘I don’t fit in’ and ‘I could never be like them’ feed this stronghold as well.

Today we’re fasting from the thought that says:
“That person makes me so mad!”

We all have someone in our life at times that we may feel that way about. This thinking robs us of the happiness God intended; and from enjoying other people

“This mistake or sin is going to haunt me the rest of my life.”

This is destructive thinking that must be eliminated.

Today we’re fasting from the thought that says:
“You can’t be happy all the time.”
This is a real doozy. This kind of thinking leads to being unhappy MOST of the time.

Today we’re fasting from the thought that says:
“If I can just stop sinning, I’ll be holy and pleasing to God.”

While it’s better not to sin (amen!), the thinking that holiness is obtained by our sinlessness, is wrong thinking.

“I just can’t break this habit.”
Whether it’s an emotional struggle, an addiction, a spending habit, etc., you CAN be free today! Don’t buy the lie that that’s just the way you are.

"I just can't break this habit (of anger, worry, addiction, etc.)."

Today we're fasting from the thought that says:
"After all I've done, this is all there is!"

We've all had this thought. "After all I've done for that person, for God, for that company, that client, etc. And look at what I get (or don't get) in return..."

Today we’re fasting from the thought that says:
“I could if...”

We limit ourselves with the word “if”. “What if”, "if only”, “if someone gave me a break”, “if I had a better education”, “if that wouldn’t have happened”, “if I were a rich man” (Fiddler...).

Time to get rid of the ‘if’s”.

Today we’re fasting from the thought that says:
“The Bible doesn’t work for me like it does for others.”

That’s what the devil wants you to think, to keep you from sowing the right seeds for your success.

Today we’re fasting from the thought that says:
“It just doesn’t pay to do right or to serve God."

This thinking discourages many people from continuing to be faithful; continuing the race; and truly giving of themselves. We see others get ahead who aren’t even serving God, and it can discourage us.

Today we’re fasting from thoughts of:
Financial Fear.

“What if I end up poor when I’m old”; “I’m afraid I’ll never be financially well off”; “What if I make the wrong move”; etc.

We need to attack these fears with the Word of God and with right thinking.

I’d like us to spend one more day fasting from a negative attitude, and more specifically, let's fast from the thought that says, “You never know how life will turn out.” This mindset of uncertainty and helplessness must be eradicated from our lives.

Attitude IS everything. And I want us to obliterate negativity from our lives. You CAN control whether life is easy or hard, by your attitude. People who hang on to their negative attitudes, never grow. They never experience the joy, contentment and success that comes when we fast from the wrong attitude.

An “attitude” is a mindset that takes precedence over all other facts. We must root out the mindset that interprets life in negative or critical terms. The attitude you have has the ability to make life as easy or as hard as you want it to be.

What we imagine within has the power to come to pass. Fear is simply a negative imagination. ‘Seeing’ something bad happen in your mind before it happens is how fear works. Job said, “What I have feared (imagining his children failing), has come upon me."

Tired of just making it? Well, true progress and success start in our thinking. Our mindsets are what keep us hemmed in and limited. A Washington Post survey revealed 4 out of 5 middle class Americans say they can’t get ahead. We must break out this thinking.

Every time you put God’s Word into your thought life, you are making an investment. You are building up an account. This account gets fuller and fuller UNTIL it spills over into the other areas of your life.

Often we start to have hope; we see some things change in us; then we seem to backtrack or expect to fall back into the same attitudes, habits or emotions. It doesn’t have to stay that way. Are you ready for that cycle to come to an end?

“If I just do more for God, perhaps He will finally bless me.”

This thinking is robbing so many people of the blessing and privileges He wants us to walk in.

What? What is it? Tell the community what we must see and/or read. On Broadway, Off Broadway, at the movies? Or was it at home on the chaise that you were lost, mesmerized and carried away with a book? Inquiry minds want to know.
